The Tarija River is well known for the enormous mountain dorados that inhabit it. It is a fast-flowing and transparent river with many slopes and strong currents. The dorados here clearly adapted to a river with such high flow: they possess an unique morphology with strong fins and musculature, bigger heads, and longer, downward-curved jaws. In the last 30 years, despite the river's remoteness, there have been many unauthorized entries of fly fishermen, which testify to the size and power of the dorados in Tarija, with stories of unstoppable huge fish that break lines and escape in the current. That’s why we thought of a floating modality, allowing us to access all river sections, including canyons and rapids that are impossible to traverse on foot. The project combines the best of both modalities: floating to reach all corners of the river and the helicopter to enter and exit daily to the lodge to recharge.
